Meet our HR Manager Amrit Gata-Aura
First Job?
Sainsbury’s checkout, I was 14. I’d sometimes get to work on the CD and DVD counter, which was preferable to the chillers.
How would you introduce yourself in an elevator pitch?
I am the HR Manager for Eternal Engagements. I was the first employee and helped build the team you see today. I am a CIPD-qualified HR professional with over six years of experience in the field and over ten years of experience managing people and teams across varied industries – food retail, third sector and most recently, as HR Business Partner in Europe’s most prominent single pay worker’s cooperative.
Biggest Career achievement?
I worked in HR throughout the pandemic in a vital food distribution business and implemented projects on HR strategy, diversity and inclusion and performance management. All whilst also completing my CIPD qualifications – phew!
Nickname?
Not that I know!
What is it about the job that you enjoy?
Many things. I enjoy working alongside business leaders to understand their pain points and working to problem solve and make progress. Although recruitment is a challenge in the recent climate, it is satisfying to identify and recruit talent and watch individuals come in and shape the business with their unique skill sets and attributes. Implementing software, policy and procedures to provide the additional business structure is excellent; as a new business, I can see an immediate impact, which gratifies me.
Who inspires you?
Personally, my Dad. Professionally, Steven Bartlett or Gary Vee.
Favorite film?
I don’t have one; I was always a books and music person. I like a good TV show, though – Breaking Bad is an all-time fave; I recently loved White Lotus S2 and Happy Valley.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A PE teacher.
First album you bought?
My first buy was two albums on cassette – Genesis and Betty Boo.
What are the company’s most significant challenges, and how do you think we are positioned to meet them?
Recruiting and retaining the right talent at the right time will always be challenging throughout the employee lifecycle. Establishing our ways of working and setting internal culture and expectations in a relatively new business is a necessary work in progress too. Even so, I am confident that we are building a great team with ambitious plans, and so far, we have turned every challenge into an opportunity. Having the flexibility to make decisions whilst being supported by business leaders supports us greatly.
